It’s very common, Windows system is getting shut down slowly & slowly and we are sitting in front of it praying to shut down quickly, but in vain. One of the biggest annoyances in Windows XP is waiting for what seems an eternity while it shuts down. There are a couple of registry tweaks that helps in shutting down Windows more quickly.

Before making any changes to the Registry it is highly advisable to have backup of data.

First of all you need to access the Registry by going to Start -> Run and type in “regedit” (no quotes) then click OK.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control Panel -> Desktop, and then scroll down to HungAppTimeout and change the default 5000 to 1000 then click OK.

Then scroll down to WaitToKillAppTimeout from 20000 to 1000 then click OK.

Next we are going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control and double click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 1000 then click OK.

Finally, we need to navigate to HKEY_USERS -> DEFAULT -> Control Panel -> Desktop and change HungAppTimeout to 1000 and click OK.

Then scroll down to WaitToKillAppTimeout to 1000 and click OK.

Well it’s very easy. You just have to perform 2-3 steps and you are able to restore missing desktop icons back on track.

Go to Control Panel, and then click on Personalize.

Or, you can simply right-click on the desktop and select Personalize.

Now choose the link for “Change Desktop Icons” on the left-hand side.

This opens a window named ‘Desktop Icon Settings’.

Now you can chose the icons you want back on the desktop by checking the box next to the name.

Click the Apply button, and you should see the icon show up on the desktop immediately.

So simple it is and you were thinking that something serious has happened. But that’s not the case at all. From now on restoring missing desktop icons is no more a creepy thing.

If your computer files are gone or deleted, then use Kernel for Windows computer file recovery software to retrieve all lost, deleted computer files.

Consider a situation, you start your Windows XP system and you are showered with following error messages:

“Searching for Boot record from CDRom – Not Found
Searching for Boot record from SCSI – Not Found
Searching for Boot record from Floppy – Not Found

Boot Failure
Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device
or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot Drive
Press any key when ready”

Due to this, system becomes unbootable and you are unable to access computer files and folders. Moreover, the same boot failure error message appears repeatedly every time you bott up the computer.

Reason behind this error message

Prime reason for this error to come up is corruption in MBR (Master Boot Record). And probable causes of MBR corruption are improper system shutdown, virus infection, and operating system damage, etc.

Resolution

For recovering inaccessible computer files, repair MBR by running command – FIXMBR device name. Running this command will repair the MBR but at the same time it results in complete damage of partition tables.

Computer file recovery tool helps you in recovering computers files lost in such situations. It’s a great tool designed to recover all types of computer files that have been deleted, damaged, or inaccessible due to deletion, formatting or corruption of FAT and NTFS partitions.

“How to restore accidentally and permanently deleted files stored on computer hard disk?” is a very common question whose answer is been searched by thousands of computer users. There is nothing surprising in the fact that a large number of computer users do not know to restore accidentally deleted computer files, as not everyone is a technical person. For those who have good knowledge about computers, recovering lost files can be easy but what about those who do not have hand on experience about using computers. Cannot they recover the lost computer files? Obviously, they can recover and if you are one of those seeking answer of the question “How to restore accidentally and permanently deleted files stored on computer hard disk?” then you have reached at the right place.

Here, in this article you will know the tips to restore accidentally deleted files. Following are procedures following which you can get the lost file back in your hand:

As mentioned files are accidentally and permanently deleted; therefore, Recycle Bin is not the place to search for deleted files. Search your backup for restoring the accidentally deleted files. However, if the files you have lost were not backed up then what will you do?

Do not worry if you do not have backup. You have still some chance to get the lost files back. However, we suggest you to do not install a software in the computer and do not perform any activity in computer. The more you work on computer, less will be chance for restoring deleted files.

Download an efficient, profitable, and complete computer file recovery software, and install it.

The computer file recovery software scans the hard disk or the hard disk partition you select for restoring the deleted files. As the scanning process is completed, computer file recovery software enumerates all recovered deleted files from which you can select the required one. Selected files now can be saved on your computer’s hard disk or in any other storage media.

Kernel for FAT and NTFS is an amazing tool for recovering accidentally deleted files. The software supports all versions of Windows operating system, such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 2007.
